Parents of Murdered Arab Youth Thank Israeli Police for Solving Case in Umm al-Fahm

In an unusual gesture within the Arab community, Mahmoud Mahamid and his wife visited the police station in Umm al-Fahm on Friday to personally thank the Israeli police for solving the murder of their son Muhammad earlier this year. The couple expressed gratitude to the Coastal District Commander, Chief Superintendent Yoni Hajaj, and the investigative team, holding a sign that read, "Thank you to the Israel Police, Umm al-Fahm Police Station, and the Coastal District Unit for the investigation leading to the arrest in our son's murder case."

According to police, investigators built a strong evidentiary case against three suspects: a 42-year-old resident of Umm al-Fahm, a 23-year-old from the Bedouin diaspora, and a minor. The case was solved despite attempts to obstruct the investigation, including evidence tampering and crime scene cleaning. This week, the prosecution submitted an indictment statement to the court ahead of formal charges.

The Mahamid parents met with Operations Officer Chief Inspector Ramez Aram, expressing heartfelt thanks for the police efforts. Mahmoud Mahamid said that while the pain of losing their son remains great, the arrests have eased their burden somewhat, knowing the perpetrators are behind bars. He called on the police to continue their determined fight against crime and murder. Muhammad's mother added that she feared the case would end without arrests but is now somewhat comforted that the killers are imprisoned, though she does not understand the motive and notes her grandchildren still ask about their father.

Chief Inspector Aram conveyed condolences and emphasized the police commitment to solving such crimes and combating crime everywhere. He described the family's visit as moving and motivating for the police to continue their work.
