United Airlines Confirms September Return to Israel with Twice-Daily New York Flights

United Airlines has officially announced it will resume flights between Tel Aviv and New York starting September 8. The airline informed its local suppliers to prepare for the relaunch after suspending operations due to security concerns. United will operate two daily flights from Newark to Tel Aviv using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Tickets for the initial return date are already available, with prices starting at approximately $1,059 for a September 9 flight, rising sharply to around $1,662 a week later, reflecting strong demand.

This move contrasts with other major U.S. carriers: Delta Air Lines plans to restart Israel flights later in September, while American Airlines has postponed its return until March next year. The New York route is highly popular among Israeli travelers but has recently faced seat shortages due to cancellations by U.S. airlines. Currently, El Al and Arkia maintain regular service on this route, contributing to high ticket prices.

Competition on the U.S.-Israel route is expected to intensify soon as Israir recently received approval to operate Airbus A330 aircraft and aims to begin U.S. flights after completing certification. This development could increase seat availability and offer more options for Israeli passengers traveling to New York.
