West Bank Resident Indicted for Killing Passenger and Attempted Vehicle Attacks in Southern Israel
The Southern District Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against Basel Shawarma, a 27-year-old resident of Dura in the Hebron district, accusing him of murdering Muhammad Sarha by running him over and attempting to run over other illegal migrants he was transporting into Israel. According to the indictment submitted to the Beersheba District Court, Shawarma was driving illegal migrants into Israel when a verbal dispute broke out between him and the passengers. The conflict escalated, resulting in Shawarma sustaining a head injury. Following this, near a kibbutz, Shawarma allegedly tried to run over the migrants and fatally struck Sarha.
The indictment details that the initial verbal confrontation led to a physical altercation, which precipitated the deadly incident. The case is now proceeding through the judicial system, with the prosecution seeking to hold Shawarma accountable for the fatal hit-and-run and the attempted attacks on other migrants.
