Mossad Chief Removes Key Officials After Failed Iran Regime-Change Plan

The Mossad's operational plan aimed at overthrowing Iran's regime, which involved collaborating with minority groups to install alternative Iranian leaders, has ended in failure or was never implemented. Roman Gofman, the head of Mossad, has responded by dismissing two senior officials closely linked to the planning of this mission. These officials include the head of the Intelligence Directorate, appointed only in December, and the head of the Iran Division. Security sources indicate that Gofman had a poor working relationship with both from the start, and their departures are part of a broader organizational restructuring within Mossad. Although they may remain in other roles within the agency, their removal signals accountability for the failed plan. Gofman believes these leaders must bear responsibility for the plan's failure, which was presented to former U.S. President Donald Trump but never executed on the ground.
