Moroccan Troops to Establish First International Stabilization Outpost in Gaza Strip

The Trump Peace Council is advancing its first construction project in the Gaza Strip by planning a military outpost to house about 150 Moroccan troops. According to a report by The Guardian on August 6, 2026, the outpost will be located in an area under direct Israeli Defense Forces control, near the Israel-Gaza border. The Moroccan contingent will operate as part of an international stabilization force supervised by the U.S. military, rotating from bases in Israel, though the exact deployment date remains undecided.

Morocco, along with Albania, Kosovo, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan, has joined this international force aimed at supporting security and governance arrangements in Gaza. Discussions with additional countries are ongoing. The legal framework for the force's operation is still being finalized, with contracts in the final stages of preparation involving the Trump Peace Council and the Palestinian National Committee for Gaza management.

The planned outpost, approximately 100 by 120 meters, will be built by Arkel International, a company with prior U.S. government project experience. It will include a rapid evacuation route in case of attacks and be situated about 1.6 kilometers from the Israeli border. Earlier plans envisioned a larger base for up to 5,000 troops with extensive facilities, but the current project is a scaled-down pilot.

This initiative is part of a broader pilot program to relocate Gaza residents to areas outside Hamas control, starting near Rafah and other locations along the "yellow line," pending Israeli approvals. The goal is to gradually establish new governance without Hamas disarmament, allowing voluntary population movement to these zones by winter. Preparatory work has begun, including infrastructure development supported by the United Arab Emirates, but full reconstruction awaits Hamas disarmament.

The international stabilization force will help secure these areas and maintain order, minimizing direct contact between the IDF and Palestinian civilians. A security screening system will prevent militants from entering, while allowing non-combatants freedom of movement within and outside the new compounds.
