Morocco to Train and Deploy Hundreds of Troops in Gaza as Part of US Peace Plan

Morocco will host the initial training for a multinational force set to operate in the Gaza Strip, according to a report from Kan News on Tuesday. This development is part of the US peace initiative led by President Donald Trump. Morocco joined the force only last week but is now expected to play a significant role, with Israeli security agencies supporting its involvement. Moroccan troops will be responsible for training thousands of soldiers who will serve in Gaza.

In recent days, representatives from the US command center in Kiryat Gat arrived in Rabat to coordinate the first training exercises with the Moroccan military. Planned activities include shooting drills, physical fitness, and other preparatory courses. Sources from the peace council told Kan News that Morocco is preparing to send approximately 500 soldiers to Gaza.

So far, four countries have agreed to contribute troops to the Gaza mission: Morocco, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, and Albania. Indonesia, which previously announced intentions to send around 800 troops, has not yet joined the multinational force or submitted a request to the Kiryat Gat command center. The foreign troops will initially operate in areas under Israeli control and will secure the planned "New Rafah" city, which the United Arab Emirates intends to build and designate as "Hamas-free."

Despite technical progress, no official date has been set for the deployment of foreign soldiers to Gaza, with expectations pointing to early next year. This initiative is part of broader efforts to stabilize the region amid ongoing tensions involving Hamas and Iran-backed groups.
