Ichilov Medical Center and Majdal Shams Sign Cooperation Agreement for Telemedicine and Rehabilitation

Ichilov Medical Center and the Majdal Shams local council signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday to connect the local residents with advanced medical services. Led by Majdal Shams council head Dolan Abu Salah, the agreement was facilitated by Ichilov's ambulatory care division and health corporation. Under the agreement, Ichilov will provide telemedicine services to Majdal Shams residents and initiate the establishment of a rehabilitation center in the town. The hospital will also support research activities and science education programs for children and youth in collaboration with a science study center established by the local council.

The partnership stems from the aftermath of a tragic rocket attack on July 27, 2024, when a Hezbollah rocket hit a football field in Majdal Shams, killing 12 children and teenagers aged 10 to 16 and injuring dozens more. This was the deadliest attack on Israeli civilians since October 7. Some of the injured children were treated and rehabilitated at Ichilov Medical Center, where the medical staff developed a close connection with the Majdal Shams community. Families of the victims and the council head later attended a ceremony at Ichilov dedicating a room for children undergoing radiation treatments in memory of the 12 victims.

During their visit to Majdal Shams, Ichilov's management also toured a recently inaugurated memorial for the children, marking two years since the tragedy. Ichilov CEO Prof. Eli Sprecher stated that the bond formed between the hospital and the community grew from painful days but evolved into a true partnership based on shared values and mutual responsibility. He emphasized the importance of sharing the hospital's excellence, knowledge, and advanced medicine with every resident, everywhere. Majdal Shams council head Dolan Abu Salah expressed honor in hosting Prof. Sprecher and Ichilov's leadership and optimism that this meeting marks the beginning of a valuable partnership to enhance community welfare.
