Ichilov Medical Center Unveils Vision for AI-Driven Hospital of the Future
The Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv hosted the NEXTLV - Unboxing Innovation Summit on Sunday, showcasing the future of healthcare over the next decade. The event gathered hundreds of medical professionals, researchers, tech entrepreneurs, investors, and health officials to discuss innovations such as AI-assisted patient care, predictive diagnostics, and quantum computing applications in medicine. Key speakers included Israel's Health Ministry Director-General Moshe Bar Siman Tov, Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai, Tel Aviv University President Prof. Ariel Porat, and Ichilov CEO Prof. Eli Sprecher.
Central to the summit was the concept of a "hospital without walls," where continuous monitoring and AI technologies enable treatment beyond hospital settings, including home-based care models for heart patients and AI-driven migraine prediction via smartphones. Practical AI tools already in use at Ichilov, like the digital assistant Ichibot and generative AI for clinical processes, were highlighted. Experts from Microsoft, AWS, Clalit Health Services, and the National AI Headquarters discussed AI's transformative role in hospital decision-making, team efficiency, and managing vast medical data.
The summit also emphasized cutting-edge technologies such as quantum computing's potential to accelerate drug discovery and personalized medicine. Innovations addressing clinical needs included AI systems to prevent delirium, advanced neonatal care, and remote medical monitoring platforms. Rehabilitation received focus with AI agents supporting patients post-discharge and digital solutions for mental health recovery.
Interactive demonstrations featured 3D-printed bone implants, virtual and augmented reality surgical simulations, medical robotics, and advanced imaging technologies. Prof. Eli Sprecher described Ichilov's evolution into a global leader shaping tomorrow's medicine through its new innovation arm, I-NEXT, which integrates clinical care with AI, technology, and even art and culinary fields. Prof. David Zeltser, VP of R&D and Innovation at Ichilov, noted that innovation there is a daily practice driven by real clinical and patient needs, positioning Ichilov as a true incubator for practical medical solutions.
