Ichilov Hospital Partners with Majdal Shams to Open Advanced Rehabilitation Center

Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv has signed a cooperation agreement with the Majdal Shams local council to establish a new rehabilitation center, expand telemedicine services, and promote education and research in the region. This partnership aims to provide advanced medical and rehabilitation services closer to residents, reducing the need for long travel to central Israel. The agreement also includes support for scientific education initiatives for children and youth, in collaboration with a recently established science center in Majdal Shams.

The collaboration emerged from the close ties formed after the tragic football field disaster in Majdal Shams two years ago, where many children were injured and treated at Ichilov. This event fostered a strong bond between the hospital staff and local families, culminating in a joint ceremony at Ichilov to inaugurate a pediatric radiation treatment room donated in memory of the 12 children who died in the disaster. During a recent visit, Ichilov’s leadership also visited a memorial at the football field commemorating the tragedy.

Ichilov’s CEO, Professor Eli Sprecher, emphasized the importance of sharing the hospital’s advanced medical expertise with all citizens, stating that the partnership represents a commitment to equality and quality care. Majdal Shams council head Dolan Abu Salah expressed gratitude for the collaboration, calling it the start of a meaningful and lasting partnership that will significantly benefit the community’s welfare.

This initiative marks a significant step in improving healthcare accessibility and fostering long-term educational and medical development in the northern Israeli Druze town and its surroundings.
