Ichilov Hospital and Magen David Adom Launch Advanced Mobile Medical Unit in Gush Dan

An advanced mobile intensive care unit jointly operated by Magen David Adom (MDA) and Ichilov Medical Center was inaugurated to serve the Gush Dan area. The unit is designed to provide sophisticated medical treatment at emergency scenes, including prolonged resuscitations, complex patient care, unique injuries, and complicated childbirths. Since its unique operation began in 2019, the unit has been staffed by senior paramedics from MDA and senior doctors from Ichilov, dispatched based on the MDA emergency call center's assessment.

The mobile unit enables on-site diagnostic and treatment procedures previously only possible in hospitals, such as blood tests, ultrasound scans, and chest drainage. It has treated 1,493 patients to date, including 1,070 with heart, lung, stroke, and other medical emergencies, approximately 135 trauma victims from accidents and violence, and nine women in labor, including a newborn delivered during transport.

In 2026 alone, the unit treated 238 individuals, including 175 adults, 14 children, and multiple trauma victims with varying injury severities. It has also been deployed to assist victims of missile attacks and related injuries during recent military operations. The unit's equipment supplements standard MDA ambulances with advanced devices, and medical teams continue patient care upon hospital arrival to ensure treatment continuity.

Ichilov CEO Professor Eli Sprecher emphasized the valuable collaboration with MDA in delivering advanced medical care directly to critical scenes. MDA CEO Eli Bin highlighted the integration of MDA's operational capabilities with Ichilov's medical expertise, enabling comprehensive field treatment and seamless hospital transition.
