Former EuroLeague Forward Augustin Robit Signs with Maccabi Ashdod
Maccabi Ashdod, newly promoted to the Israeli Premier Basketball League, announced the signing of 37-year-old forward Augustin Robit. Standing 2.03 meters tall, Robit is the team's fourth foreign player this season, joining Kuddus Wahab, Isaiah Hill, and Robert Turner. Coach Dan Katzir praised Robit's experience and versatility, noting his ability to play both frontcourt positions and his leadership on and off the court.
Robit brings extensive EuroLeague experience, having appeared in 143 games across four teams: Bamberg, Olympiacos, Žalgiris Kaunas, and Bayern Munich. His career averages in the EuroLeague include 9.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 53.8% shooting on two-pointers, 35.7% from three-point range, and 82.5% from the free-throw line. Last season, he played for Lithuanian club Lietkabelis in the EuroCup, averaging 15.1 points and 4.8 rebounds with 50% three-point shooting. Mid-season, he transferred to Málaga, where he averaged 7.1 points in 12 minutes per game.
Robit's signing is seen as a significant addition to Maccabi Ashdod as they prepare for their return to Israel's top basketball division.
