Former EuroLeague Forward Augustin Robit Joins Maccabi Ashdod Basketball Team
Maccabi Ashdod, newly promoted to Israel's top basketball league, announced the signing of forward Augustin Robit on August 6, 2026. The 37-year-old, standing 2.03 meters tall, is the team's fourth foreign player this season, joining Kuddus Wahab, Isaiah Hill, and Robert Turner. Coach Dan Katzir praised Robit as an experienced player capable of playing both frontcourt positions and highlighted his leadership on and off the court. Robit brings extensive experience from the EuroLeague, having appeared 143 times across four teams: Bamberg, Olympiacos, Zalgiris Kaunas, and Bayern Munich. He holds career averages of 9.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, shooting 53.8% on two-pointers, 35.7% on three-pointers, and 82.5% from the free-throw line. Last season, Robit played for Lithuanian club Lietkabelis in the EuroCup, averaging 15.1 points and 4.8 rebounds with 50% three-point shooting. Mid-season, he transferred to Malaga, where he averaged 7.1 points in 12 minutes per game. This signing aims to strengthen Ashdod's roster as they prepare for their return to the Israeli Premier League.
