Maccabi Ashdod Hosts Open Practice Ahead of New Basketball Season
Maccabi Ashdod held an open practice session on August 27, attracting around 150 fans who came to support the newly promoted basketball team. The club recently completed its roster with new foreign players Augustin Robit, Kodos Wahab, Isaiah Hill, and Marquis McDuffy, alongside Israeli additions Sean Dawson, Omer Ben David, Ziv Wiseman, and Tzahi Yeta, complementing returning players Robert Turner, Shahar Shalmon, and Ben Calhon Gold. The event included an internal scrimmage, fan celebrations, and photo opportunities less than two weeks before their first game in the Winner Cup against Hapoel Jerusalem at the Kirya Hall in Ashdod.
Following the practice, the players greeted fans outside the arena, who had prepared a fireworks display. Isaiah Hill, the team's new point guard, expressed enthusiasm about the support and the team’s prospects, calling the squad "interesting" with a mix of athleticism, experience, and youth. He praised Ashdod as the most beautiful city he has visited and highlighted the club’s welcoming atmosphere.
Maccabi Ashdod is actively working to boost attendance for home games, having sold approximately 300 season tickets so far. The club plans a discount campaign aligned with the school year start and set a uniform ticket price of 50 shekels for the upcoming Winner Cup match against Hapoel Jerusalem.
