Israeli Youth Groups Cross Into Lebanon Demanding New Settlement Amid Hezbollah Tensions

On Wednesday, approximately 11 families and dozens of teenagers from the Israeli youth movement Ori Tzafon crossed the border fence into Lebanon, demanding the establishment of a settlement there. This action occurred amid ongoing violations of the ceasefire by Hezbollah. The event began around 4 p.m. and remains ongoing, with dozens of activists still present in the disputed area of the Lebanon region. In response, the Israeli army and police blocked all entrances and exits to the village of Aajjar to contain the situation.

The activists are currently touring the Wazzani springs (Ajjan), a group of large, strong springs that feed into the Snir (Hasbani) stream, which is the only consistent water source creating the main flow of the Hasbani River. This area has been a focal point for such incursions; last week, several girls crossed the border to swim in the Hasbani River. This phenomenon has been ongoing for about a year, following Hezbollah's increased presence in northern Israel.

Simultaneously, another group called "Pioneers of Bashan" is conducting similar activities along the Syrian border, indicating a broader pattern of youth-led border activism in northern Israel's frontier areas.
