Xiaomi Store in Rishon Lezion Closes Two Hours After Opening Due to Safety Concerns

Xiaomi's new store in the HaZahav Mall in Rishon Lezion, operated by the Hamilton Group, opened on Wednesday at 4 p.m. but was forced to close just two hours later due to overwhelming crowds and safety risks. The grand opening featured aggressive promotional deals, including products priced at only 10 shekels and discounts of up to 55%, which attracted hundreds of eager customers even before the doors opened.

As the store opened, long lines and severe congestion quickly developed at the entrance, with dozens trying to enter simultaneously to take advantage of the limited-time offers. About 30 minutes into the event, the mall's security department recommended halting the sale due to serious safety concerns, including crowding, pushing, and some altercations among waiting customers.

The Hamilton Group confirmed the temporary closure was to protect visitors' safety and stated that the company plans to provide updates on how the launch promotions will continue and whether a new date will be set to resume sales. The incident highlights the high demand for Xiaomi products but also the challenges of managing large crowds during major sales events.
