Former Communications Minister Eitan Ginzburg Joins Naftali Bennett’s Yachdut Party Ahead of Elections

Former Communications Minister Eitan Ginzburg announced his departure from the Blue and White party in May after seven years and has now joined Naftali Bennett’s Yachdut (Together) party ahead of the 26th Knesset elections. Bennett, former Prime Minister and leader of Yachdut, welcomed Ginzburg’s addition, calling him a professional and dedicated public servant who will help "fix the country." Ginzburg expressed confidence in Bennett’s leadership, emphasizing the urgent need for a government that can immediately address Israel’s challenges without "experimentation or delay."

Ginzburg’s move comes amid a deep crisis within Blue and White, which has recently suffered several painful resignations, including MKs Hili Tropper and Orit Farkash-Hacohen, and is facing a steady decline in poll support. Blue and White criticized Ginzburg’s departure, stressing loyalty to the party’s vision of a broad Zionist unity government.

Ginzburg brings extensive public service experience, having served as Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, Chair of the Knesset Committee, and Mayor of Ra’anana. He holds law and political science degrees and is a reserve lieutenant colonel. Bennett highlighted Ginzburg’s proven execution skills and experience as vital for the party’s goal to immediately implement detailed plans to repair Israel.

Despite Yachdut’s current polling challenges, Bennett continues to recruit seasoned political figures to present a ready alternative government. Meanwhile, Blue and White leader Benny Gantz has sought to stabilize his party by convincing some members, like Hili Tropper, to remain in the Knesset to oppose legislation they view as harmful to Israeli society and the IDF.

Ginzburg lives in Ra’anana and has twin sons.
