Tiberias Football Club Seeks to Question Israel Football Association Chairman in Disciplinary Hearing

The Tiberias football club is preparing for the first disciplinary hearing today (Wednesday) at the Israel Football Association's tribunal concerning a doping scandal. The club's defense will be led by attorneys Eyal Yaffe and Zion Amir, the latter a criminal law and witness investigation expert, signaling plans to appeal to the district court to annul the proceedings due to alleged procedural errors. The preliminary hearing aims to set the schedule for the case.

Tiberias intends to request the summoning of Israel Football Association Chairman Shinu Zuaratz for testimony, citing suspicions of his involvement after his name appeared in investigation transcripts. This move is unusual in Israeli football, with a similar precedent only occurring in 2008 when former chairman Avi Luzon was tried and acquitted. The club also plans to call prosecutor Gilad Bergman, accusing him of actively participating in player and staff interrogations without identifying himself.

The club stated, "This time we will expose all the dirt," emphasizing their determination to thoroughly investigate the matter. The case centers on doping allegations within the club, and the upcoming hearings will include witness examinations and an extensive review of investigator Din Perger's role.
