Tiberias Football Club Seeks to Question Israel Football Association Chairman in Disciplinary Hearing

The Tiberias football club is preparing for a disciplinary hearing today at the Israel Football Association's tribunal concerning a doping scandal. The club's defense will be led by attorneys Eyal Yaffe and Zion Amir, the latter a criminal law expert, signaling plans to appeal the process to the district court, claiming procedural errors and overreach by the association. The preliminary hearing aims to set the schedule for the case, with Tiberias already planning to summon witnesses and challenge the investigation.

Significantly, Tiberias intends to request the summoning of Shino Zuaretz, the chairman of the Israel Football Association, for questioning. The club argues that since Zuaretz's name appeared in protocols and investigation transcripts, there is suspicion of his involvement, and they have the right to call him as a witness. This move is unusual in Israeli football but not unprecedented, recalling the 2008 case when former chairman Avi Luzon was summoned to court and later acquitted.

Additionally, Tiberias plans to summon the prosecutor, attorney Gilad Bergman, accusing him of actively participating in player and staff interrogations without properly identifying himself.
