Deputy Mayor in Shfela Arrested on Sexual Offense Charges
A deputy mayor from the Shfela region was arrested on Wednesday morning on suspicion of committing a sexual offense, according to police statements. The investigation began following a complaint filed by a municipal employee, which initially led to a covert inquiry. The investigation became public this morning, resulting in the suspect's arrest. A hearing to extend his detention is scheduled at the Magistrate's Court in Rishon LeZion.
Separately, a man in his 50s from Netanya, who worked as a teacher at a hostel in Kfar Saba, was also arrested on suspicion of sexual offenses against several female residents. His detention was extended until the following Thursday. This investigation started several weeks ago after a complaint was filed with the police. The suspect allegedly committed offenses against women in their 30s and 40s over approximately two years during his employment at the institution. His employment ended about two weeks ago, on July 22, 2026.
