Avi Nesher’s Film 'Our Loves' to Screen at Toronto International Film Festival

Avi Nesher’s latest film, "Our Loves," has been selected to participate in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this September. The film will be featured in the "Centrepiece" section, which highlights prominent works from around the world. Inspired by real events, the story follows seven intertwined characters whose lives are deeply affected by the October 7 massacre, focusing on their relationships and the transformations they undergo amid the outbreak of war.

The cast includes actors such as Shalom Michaelshvili, Magi Azarzar, Yaniv Biton, Noa Cohen, Hadas Yaron, Evelin Hagoel, Kim Or Azoulay, and Daniel Gimpel. The production team, which includes United King Films and SIPUR, recently gained major international partners Fox Entertainment Studios and Access Entertainment. Danny Cohen, president of Access Entertainment and former BBC television chief, expressed confidence in the film’s potential as an Oscar contender in the Best International Feature category.

Earlier this week, "Our Loves" received 12 nominations for the Ophir Awards, including Best Feature Film. TIFF, established in 1976, is one of the world’s leading film festivals alongside Cannes, Berlin, and Venice. Israeli films previously screened at TIFF include Ari Folman’s "Waltz with Bashir," Nir Bergman’s "Broken Wings," Eran Kolirin’s "The Orchestra Visit," and several of Nesher’s own works.

Last year, Nesher’s documentary "The Distance Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue," about retired Major Noam Tivon’s efforts to save his family during the October 7 attacks, was controversially initially canceled but later screened and won the Audience Award after public outcry. Additional Ophir Awards news includes the film "Independence" breaking nomination records, and a new Amos Gitai film set to compete at the Venice Film Festival.
