Mohamed Salah Nears Deal to Join Turkish Club Trabzonspor

Mohamed Salah, one of Liverpool's greatest players and a standout free agent, is reportedly close to signing with Turkish club Trabzonspor for the upcoming season. The 34-year-old winger, who left Liverpool after winning two Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy, scored seven goals and provided seven assists in his final season with the club. In the 2024/25 season, Salah netted 29 goals and assisted 18, playing a key role in Liverpool's surprising Premier League championship.

Salah, who recently helped Egypt reach the World Cup round of 16, has attracted interest from several Turkish teams but is expected to join Trabzonspor, which finished third in the Turkish league and will compete in the Europa League playoffs. The club could face Ferencváros, featuring Israeli player Gabi Kanichovsky, in the playoffs. Salah is set to earn a net salary of 17.5 million euros per season, up from 14 million euros at Liverpool after taxes, with a substantial signing bonus also anticipated.

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan confirmed the club's desire to sign Salah but claimed no active negotiations are underway. Salah has also drawn interest from Besiktas but is likely to join Trabzonspor, which boasts players like John Lundstram, Ozan Tufan, veteran Stefan Savic, and Cape Verde international Sidney Carval, who impressed at the World Cup.
