Mohamed Salah Nears Deal to Join Turkish Club Trabzonspor

Mohamed Salah, one of Liverpool's greatest players and a top free agent globally, is reportedly close to signing with Turkish club Trabzonspor for the upcoming season. The 34-year-old winger, who recently helped his national team reach the World Cup round of 16, left Liverpool after a successful stint that included two Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy. In the 2024/25 season, Salah scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists, playing a key role in Liverpool's unexpected league triumph.

Trabzonspor, which finished third in the Turkish league and will compete in the Europa League playoffs, is strengthening its squad with players like John Lundstram, Ozan Tufan, Stefan Savić, and Sidney Cravalho. Salah is expected to earn a net salary of 17.5 million euros per season, up from the 14 million euros he made at Liverpool after taxes, along with a substantial signing bonus. Although Trabzonspor's president, Ertuğrul Doğan, expressed the club's interest in signing Salah, he claimed no active negotiations were underway. Salah has also attracted interest from Beşiktaş but is likely to join Trabzonspor.

Trabzonspor could face Ferencváros, featuring Israeli player Gabi Kanichovsky, in the Europa League playoffs. Salah's move marks a surprising continuation of his career in Europe rather than a transfer elsewhere.
