Haifa Parents Exploit Children in Planned Theft Spree in Eilat Stores

A couple from Haifa, Eliran (39) and Sivan Bochbot (36), have been indicted for orchestrating a series of thefts in Eilat during a family vacation in July 2026. Over the course of their stay, they committed 15 thefts totaling more than 100,000 shekels by using their young children, aged one, eight, and nine, as distractions and accomplices. The indictment details incidents such as entering a STORY store on the Neptune Hotel promenade on July 7, where they removed security tags and stole items worth approximately 2,415 shekels without paying.

In another case at a Duty Free store in the Ice Mall, Sivan paid for some items while Eliran sent one of their children to fetch perfume, which they then stole. Further thefts included stealing perfumes valued at about 8,320 shekels and sunglasses worth 42,779 shekels from an Airuka store at the Mall Hayam, as well as shoes and other items from various stores on the promenade and in the Ice Mall.

Security cameras captured the family's actions, and police investigations included searches of their hotel room and their home in Haifa. The evidence was compiled and submitted to the Eilat police prosecution unit. Attorney Orian Swissa filed the indictment, which includes detailed accounts of the crimes and a list of 25 witnesses. The court has been requested to restrict the couple's movements, and Eliran remains in custody pending legal proceedings.
