Haifa Couple Arrested in Eilat for Using Children to Steal Over 100,000 Shekels in Shoplifting Spree

A couple in their thirties from Haifa was arrested in Eilat after a systematic theft spree involving their three young children. Over several days, they stole merchandise valued at more than 100,000 shekels from multiple stores across the resort city. The family appeared to be on a typical vacation, but police investigations revealed a carefully planned series of crimes.

The case began about two weeks ago when local businesses reported repeated thefts by a couple accompanied by children, who used the guise of a family outing to conceal their actions. Police identified a consistent modus operandi and linked the incidents to the same suspects. Shockingly, the parents allegedly coerced their older children, aged 8 and 9, to actively participate in the thefts. They also reportedly used their one-year-old infant's stroller to hide stolen goods, exploiting the appearance of innocence to avoid detection.

The suspects were brought before the court last weekend. The mother was released to house arrest under restrictive conditions, while the father remains in custody. The investigation is ongoing, with the full case file soon to be reviewed by the Eilat prosecution unit to determine formal charges.
