Right-Wing Extremists Suspected in Arson Attacks on Vehicles in West Bank Village of Jalud

Palestinian residents of the West Bank village of Jalud reported that right-wing extremist settlers went door to door during the night between August 3 and 4, 2026, setting fire to several vehicles. Additional reports from the region indicate similar attacks by Jewish settlers, including the torching of a mosque and graffiti with hate slogans in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus, and the burning of vehicles in the village of Beitillu. In another incident near Ramallah, Jewish assailants attacked and set fire to heavy machinery at a stone crushing facility in Ein Samia.

A letter signed by approximately 600 retired senior commanders from the IDF, Mossad, Shin Bet, Israeli Police, and Foreign Service warned that the rise in Jewish extremist violence, combined with the weakening of the Palestinian Authority, is creating a dangerous security environment. The letter cautioned that continued escalation could harm Israeli security, destabilize the region, jeopardize U.S. interests, and undermine efforts to expand the Abraham Accords.
