Douglas Owusu's Medical Issues Cause Failed Transfer to Viktoria Plzen, Return to Hapoel Tel Aviv

Douglas Owusu, the winger from Red Star Belgrade, was set to join Hapoel Tel Aviv as a replacement for Louizos Louizo, becoming the club's most expensive signing. This marks his second agreement with Hapoel Tel Aviv this summer. Earlier, Owusu was supposed to transfer to Viktoria Plzen for 3.3 million euros, but the deal collapsed in May after a knee injury was discovered during medical examinations. Prior to the failed transfer, Owusu had played half a match against Novi Pazar in the Serbian league playoffs but was left out of the squad for the following two games.

Following the canceled move, Plzen withdrew due to concerns over his knee, and Owusu underwent further medical tests in Serbia. Despite this, he was included in the squad for a friendly against Zenit St. Petersburg but did not play. Owusu traveled with Red Star Belgrade to their training camp, and there were rumors that the club considered loaning him to OFK Belgrade, where Henry Edu played last season, but this did not materialize.

Owusu was not registered for any Serbian SuperLiga or Champions League matches, indicating he was not in the club's professional plans. Metalist Kharkiv also showed interest in him, but no transfer occurred. Now, Owusu is expected to finalize his move to Hapoel Tel Aviv under coach Eliniv Berda, aiming to strengthen the Israeli Premier League side.
