Be'er Sheva Attempts Last-Minute Deal to Retain Kangwa Before Panathinaikos Transfer

Just before finalizing Kings Kangwa's transfer to Panathinaikos, Hapoel Be'er Sheva sought to negotiate with the Greek club and the player to keep him for their upcoming Champions League qualifying matches. The Israeli club was willing to reduce the transfer fee, estimated at four million euros, to have Kangwa participate in the two crucial games against Red Star Belgrade. Despite this, both Panathinaikos and Kangwa declined, stating the transfer process was already underway and the player needed to move immediately.

Hapoel Be'er Sheva emphasized the importance of Kangwa's involvement in the next qualifying round, especially since Panathinaikos could not field him in their European matches due to his prior participation with Be'er Sheva this summer. Nevertheless, the decision was made for Kangwa to join Panathinaikos right after the recent match against Vikingur, knowing he would be ineligible to play for either team in the upcoming qualifiers.

Panathinaikos is set to face Sofia 1948 in the third qualifying round of the Conference League, where Kangwa will not be available. Hapoel Be'er Sheva, the reigning Israeli champions, had hoped to rely on him for these decisive fixtures but ultimately lost the player to the Greek side.
