Peace Council Advances Over Sixty Infrastructure and Security Projects in Gaza

The Peace Council is moving forward with over sixty projects in Gaza, aiming to begin implementation from August 2024 through January 2027. These initiatives focus on infrastructure development and economic acceleration rather than reconstruction, alongside several internal security projects. Planned efforts include establishing additional pilot zones and humanitarian camps, launching a tech employment program called "Gaza Tech Park," rehabilitating hospitals, and clearing rubble and debris. A new security unit will be created to protect members of the technocrats' committee, who have so far not entered Gaza due to security concerns. Police detention facilities and other projects supporting a multinational force are also planned.

These projects are part of an internal working document, with some slated for early execution depending on funding and Israeli approval. The Peace Council is currently fundraising to support these efforts. Last Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a historic agreement for the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. Under this deal, Hamas will halt military activities for the first 14 days, followed by a disarmament process, while Israel will maintain a ceasefire as per an agreement from October 2023. Hamas has reportedly conveyed its acceptance of the agreement to the U.S., Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.

Meanwhile, Gaza reported that 18 Palestinians were killed overnight in Israeli Defense Forces strikes across the territory, highlighting ongoing tensions despite the peace efforts.
