Officials involved in the discussions conveyed that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps will not compromise without increased US involvement, control over the Strait of Hormuz, and the possibility of a ground operation.

An Iranian diplomatic source indicated that Tehran is aware of Trump's political vulnerabilities and may exploit them if necessary. The source warned that if diplomatic efforts fail, the Revolutionary Guards might launch preemptive attacks, even if the US does not strike first.
