Real Madrid Emerges as Leading Contender to Sign Armoni Brooks from Maccabi Tel Aviv Rival

Maccabi Tel Aviv is closely monitoring the situation of American scorer Armoni Brooks, but acquiring him is expected to be challenging. According to BasketNews, Brooks is likely to be the next player to leave French club Villeurbanne due to the club's financial uncertainty. Brooks is actively in talks with several EuroLeague teams. While Partizan Belgrade, previously mentioned as a candidate, has withdrawn, Real Madrid remains a strong contender. Maccabi Tel Aviv, maintaining contact with Villeurbanne and Brooks' representatives, hopes to capitalize on the situation and secure his signing.

Brooks, 28, joined Villeurbanne this summer as part of an ambitious project that also included Sylvain Francisco and Nick Weiler-Babb. However, the club had to change course after failing to complete a significant investment deal on time. Villeurbanne's budget reportedly dropped from about 59 million euros to approximately 24 million euros, casting doubt on the futures of several top players. Francisco already left without playing a game after Panathinaikos paid 450,000 euros for him.

Brooks arrived in Europe in summer 2024 after four seasons alternating between the NBA and its development league. He played 84 NBA games, averaging 6.6 points, and spent the last two seasons with Milan. Last season in the EuroLeague, he averaged 13.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
