Among the teams pursuing him are Real Madrid and Maccabi Tel Aviv, with Partizan Belgrade recently withdrawing from the race. Brooks, who previously played two seasons with Milan and averaged 13.1 points per game with a 41.6% three-point shooting rate in the EuroLeague last season, has become a hot commodity in the market.

In Spain, discussions about Brooks' potential transfer to Real Madrid have centered on his salary demands. Reports indicate Brooks signed a contract worth 2.3 million euros net, a figure that has raised eyebrows among Spanish analysts and commentators. Sergio Martinez Orslai, a Spanish basketball expert, expressed skepticism about Brooks commanding such a high salary, stating that while Brooks is a very good player, he is not the type of independent star shooting guard who justifies being the second-highest paid player on the roster. Martinez emphasized that Brooks is a scorer who needs a strong team around him and that 2.3 million euros net is not a reasonable price.
