Real Madrid's Mario Hezonja Faces Critical Decision on NBA Exit or European Future

Signed with Real Madrid until 2029, Hezonja holds an option to leave for the NBA for 850,000 euros. Should Hezonja decide against the NBA, Spanish media report three realistic European options: Dubai, a wealthy club potentially reuniting him with Dzanan Musa; Anadolu Efes, coached by former Real Madrid coach Pablo Laso; and Panathinaikos, whose recent signee Gershon Yabusele expressed a desire to see Hezonja join and noted Hezonja’s fondness for the club’s songs in the locker room. Although not mentioned in Spanish media, Hapoel Tel Aviv is also a leading candidate, having engaged in talks with Hezonja earlier this month and is prepared to offer a significant financial package to bring back the player who averaged 13.3 points per game in the EuroLeague this season.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid has officially announced the signing of Timothy Luwawu-Cabarrot, who plays in a similar position and style to Hezonja, adding another layer to the Croatian’s decision. The coming days will be critical for Hezonja as he weighs his options between continuing in Europe or pursuing an NBA career.
