Israeli Police Arrest Four Rahat Residents for Extorting Meat Delivery Line in Gaza Envelope Area

Over the past weekend, Israeli police from the Negev District Unit (YAMAR Negev) arrested four men in their 30s from Rahat on suspicion of extorting a meat distribution operator in the Eshkol Regional Council area near the Gaza border. The suspects allegedly threatened the operator to prevent him from continuing his business in the region. The investigation had been ongoing covertly for some time before the arrests, which were carried out during an operational activity within the Eshkol Regional Council jurisdiction. The suspects were taken for further questioning at the Negev District Unit and are expected to appear before the Beersheba Magistrate's Court for a detention extension hearing based on the investigation's findings. The police also arrested another suspect from the Yeruham area on related charges of extortion and protection racketeering.
