Beloved Vizhnitz Hasid Rabbi Betzalel Segal Passes Away at 91 in Bnei Brak

Rabbi Betzalel Halevi Segal, a revered elder of the Vizhnitz Hasidic community in Bnei Brak, passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Known for his extraordinary diligence and humility, Rabbi Segal dedicated decades to Torah study and prayer at the Beit Hillel shtiebel in the Vizhnitz neighborhood, where he was among the first residents. Born in Safed to Rabbi Tzvi Aryeh Segal, a descendant of the Kabbalist Rabbi Shalom Segal of Podyeitz, he developed a deep connection to the Vizhnitz court in his youth.

Following his marriage to his wife Tachi, who is well known locally as the manager of the Sheva bakery branch on Shlomo HaMelech Street, the couple settled in one of the earliest buildings in the Vizhnitz housing complex in Bnei Brak. Rabbi Segal was widely respected for his silent devotion and modest lifestyle, serving as a spiritual role model and educator who raised generations committed to Torah and mitzvot.

In his later years, Rabbi Segal endured a serious illness with acceptance and grace. He left behind a large family, including sons Rabbi Yaakov, Rabbi Yechiel, Rabbi Moshe Eliezer, Rabbi Chaim Shalom, Rabbi David, and Rabbi Aharon Shlomo, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who continue his legacy of Torah observance.

His funeral took place at 12:00 PM from the main synagogue in the Vizhnitz quarter to the Segula cemetery in Petah Tikva. Shiva is being observed at his home on Givat Pinchas Street 8 in Bnei Brak. The community mourns the loss of a humble scholar whose life was marked by devotion and kindness.
