Newcastle's Next Coach Matias Jaissle Linked to Oscar Gloukh Transfer
Matias Jaissle is expected to be appointed as Newcastle United's next head coach. Jaissle, who currently manages Al-Ahli, previously spent two successful seasons at Red Bull Salzburg, his most significant European tenure. One of his major signings at Salzburg was Israeli midfielder Oscar Gloukh, acquired from Maccabi Tel Aviv for 7 million euros in January 2023. Under Jaissle, Gloukh gradually integrated into the team, scoring two goals and assisting two more during the season Salzburg won the league title. Jaissle praised Gloukh as a high-level player who adapted excellently to the squad.
Newcastle is undergoing offensive changes after selling winger Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for 80 million euros. Gloukh, who played as a central midfielder under Jaissle but has experience as a left winger, could be a potential target for Newcastle. The club recently signed Bazoumana Touré from Hoffenheim for 50 million euros and acquired Edouard Bemba from Monaco to replace Sandro Tonali. Jaissle's preferred formation is 4-2-3-1, and with Newcastle lacking a true number 10, they may seek a player for that role. Central midfielders Bruno Guimarães and Jacob Ramsey could also fill that position.
