Israeli Health Ministry Warns Vulnerable Groups to Avoid Heat Exposure Amid Severe Heatwave
The Israeli Ministry of Health has issued a warning ahead of an expected severe heatwave in the coming days. The ministry urged the general public, especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic illnesses, to avoid exposure to heat and sunlight and to refrain from unnecessary physical exertion. The ministry highlighted that those at increased risk of heatstroke include seniors, infants and toddlers up to age four, cardiovascular patients, people with obesity or other chronic conditions, and those suffering from acute illnesses.
Officials emphasized the importance of recognizing heatstroke symptoms, which include high body temperature, hot and red skin, severe headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion, or loss of consciousness. In such cases, immediate contact with Magen David Adom emergency services is critical. The ministry also stressed that giving fluids to someone suffering from heatstroke is strictly prohibited.
The advisory aims to prevent heat-related health emergencies during the upcoming hot weather period and protect at-risk populations from potentially life-threatening conditions.
