Jacob Toppin Signs Three-Year Deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv Ahead of New Season

Hapoel Tel Aviv officially announced the signing of Jewish forward Jacob Toppin on July 29, 2026. Toppin, 26, who previously played in New York and Atlanta, joins the Israeli club immediately to prepare for the upcoming season under coach Dimitris Itoudis. He is the younger brother of Obi Toppin, a former NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion.

The team had been tracking Toppin since December as he sought to secure a stable position in the United States basketball scene. He signed a three-year contract worth $1.5 million per season with the reigning Israeli league runners-up. Toppin played college basketball at Kentucky and appeared in 31 NBA games, known for his athleticism and defensive skills. His best NBA performance included scoring 17 points and grabbing four rebounds for the Atlanta Hawks.

Toppin joins new teammates Thomas Storneski, Kadin Currington, Zack LeDay, and Amir Coffey. After signing, he expressed excitement about competing with his new team and engaging with the club’s culture and fans.
