Partner Selected to Build Communication Network for Dan Region Congestion Tax Launching in 2028

The controversial congestion tax project in the Dan metropolitan area is moving forward with a new phase. Partner Communications was chosen by Electra to develop and operate the communication infrastructure connecting approximately 220 toll gates to the system's computing centers. Electra, which won the government tender to build and manage around 220 toll gates across 140 charging sites in three rings around Dan, announced that the system is expected to begin operating in 2028. The automated toll system will charge drivers based on the time and location of their entry, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and encourage public transportation use.

Partner's role includes designing, building, and maintaining the communication network linking all toll gates to the central computing hubs. The network will combine advanced fiber optic infrastructure with cellular backup connectivity to ensure high availability even during outages. Partner will also provide ongoing monitoring, control, and maintenance services throughout the operation period, which is expected to last at least two decades. Electra estimates the total revenue from the project over the concession period to be about 1.25 billion shekels, while Partner anticipates tens of millions of shekels in income from its services during this time.
