48-Year-Old Woman in Serious Condition After Snake Bite in Rishon Lezion

Translated & summarized from Mako by baba
The story · English

On the morning of July 29, 2026, at 07:51, emergency services received a report of a 48-year-old woman bitten by a snake at the Volcanic Institute in Rishon Lezion. Paramedics from Magen David Adom (MDA) arrived to find the woman conscious but with bite marks on her lower limbs. She was treated on-site with medication and transported in serious but stable condition to Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh).

Meanwhile, in northern Israel, a 26-year-old woman was also hospitalized after a snake bite near her home in Majd al-Krum. She was admitted to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya in mild and stable condition and placed under general intensive care while fully conscious.

Dr. Khaled Atallah, head of the emergency department at Galilee Medical Center, emphasized the increased activity of venomous reptiles during this season and advised proper first aid: keeping the victim calm and immobile, avoiding movement of the bitten limb to slow venom spread, and seeking immediate hospital care. He warned against cutting the bite site, sucking out venom, applying tourniquets, or attempting to capture the snake, as these actions can endanger both the victim and others. If possible, photographing the snake from a safe distance is recommended for identification.
