Beersheba Deputy Mayor Indicted for Assault and Brandishing Weapon at Gas Station

The State Prosecutor's Office filed charges against Shimon Tubul, 43, deputy mayor of Beersheba, accusing him of assaulting two gas station employees in Kfar Azza during his reserve military service in September 2024. According to the indictment submitted to the Beersheba Magistrate's Court by attorney Avi Biton from the Southern District Prosecutor's Office, Tubul confronted an employee who was playing Arabic music loudly in his car. After a bystander complained, Tubul asked the employee to turn off the music, which led to a verbal dispute. The indictment alleges Tubul grabbed the employee by the neck, warned him it was the last time he would play such music, punched him in the face, pushed him toward his car, and brandished his weapon. The employee was struck again while opening and closing his car door. Passersby intervened to calm the situation. Shortly after, another employee questioned Tubul about the incident, and Tubul allegedly pushed him in the chin and throat area while again brandishing his weapon until a soldier separated them. Tubul faces two counts of assault. The case was investigated by the Southern Fraud Investigation Unit.
