Beersheba Deputy Mayor Indicted for Assaulting Gas Station Workers During Reserve Duty

The State Prosecutor's Office filed charges on Tuesday against Shimon Tubul, 43, the deputy mayor of Beersheba, accusing him of assaulting two gas station employees in the village of Kfar Azza during his military reserve service. According to the indictment submitted to the Beersheba Magistrate's Court by attorney Avi Biton from the Southern District Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred in September 2024 when Tubul confronted one of the workers over Arabic music playing from his car. After a bystander complained to Tubul about the music, Tubul entered the convenience store, demanded the worker turn off the music, and when the worker refused, Tubul grabbed him by the neck, warned him it was the last time he would play such music, struck him in the face, pushed him toward his car, and brandished his weapon. The worker was hit again after closing his car door until bystanders intervened.

Shortly afterward, another gas station employee approached Tubul to inquire about the incident, and Tubul allegedly pushed him in the chin and throat area while waving his weapon, until a soldier present separated them. The case was investigated by the Southern Fraud Investigation Unit.
