Beersheba Deputy Mayor Indicted for Assaulting Gas Station Workers Over Arabic Music

The State Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment on Tuesday against Shimon Tubul, Deputy Mayor of Beersheba, accusing him of assaulting two gas station employees in the village of Kfar Azza during his military reserve duty. The incident occurred in September 2024 when Tubul confronted one employee playing Arabic music from his car. After a bystander complained about the music, Tubul entered the convenience store, demanded the music be turned off, and then physically assaulted the employee by grabbing his neck, hitting his face, pushing him toward his car, and brandishing his weapon. The employee was struck again after closing his car door until bystanders intervened. Shortly after, another gas station worker approached Tubul to inquire about the incident, and Tubul allegedly pushed him in the chin and throat area while raising his weapon until a soldier separated them. The indictment, submitted by Attorney Avi Biton of the Southern District Prosecutor's Office to the Beersheba Magistrate's Court, charges Tubul with two counts of assault.
