Driver from Majd al-Krum Arrested After Fleeing Police and Impersonating Brother

On July 27, 2026, a 27-year-old driver from Majd al-Krum was arrested after attempting to evade a police checkpoint on Highway 85 near the town's exit. The driver tried to escape by reversing toward the town, driving onto a separation area and endangering other road users. Police pursued and stopped the vehicle for inspection.

During the investigation, the driver falsely identified himself as his brother. Authorities discovered he was banned from driving by a court order for 21 months and was serving community service for previous traffic offenses. He also had an eight-month suspended sentence pending.

The driver was taken for further questioning by the traffic enforcement unit in the Galilee region. His vehicle was impounded and suspended for 30 days. Following the investigation, prosecutors filed charges against him and requested his detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings, along with an extension of his driving ban until the case is resolved.
