Israeli Defense Minister Orders No Extension of Detention for Tal Yinon Dradik

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz held a security meeting on Monday evening focused on the West Bank, attended by top military and security officials including Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, heads of the Military Intelligence Directorate and Central Command, the Military Secretary to the Defense Minister Colonel Hisham Ibrahim, and representatives from the Shin Bet and other security agencies. Following the discussion, Katz instructed the Israel Defense Forces to intensify offensive operations against Palestinian terrorism, which has been resurging. He also ordered preparations for the takeover of another refugee camp, modeled after previous operations in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur al-Shams, where camps were cleared of residents, terror infrastructure dismantled, and the IDF established a permanent presence.

This approach, supported by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since Katz assumed the defense portfolio, has led to an approximately 80% reduction in terrorist activity during 2025 and continuing into 2026. Additionally, the military appeals committee in the West Bank accepted an appeal against a removal order issued by the Central Command commander against Tal Yinon Dradik, based on Shin Bet recommendations but found to have procedural flaws. Consequently, Katz directed that the removal order not be renewed and that alternative measures be pursued to address the issue.
