IDF Kills Three Senior Militants in Gaza Over Imminent Attack Plot
Israeli forces struck targets in the Gaza Strip on Thursday and killed three senior militants who, according to the military, were preparing an imminent attack on IDF troops. The dead were identified as two platoon commanders from Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Taslam Hassan Saleh and Sami Jamil Abu Dalal, and Oba Maamoun Saleh Farwana, who served as a deputy company commander in Hamas.
The IDF said the militants were eliminated after intelligence indicated they intended to carry out an attack against forces operating in the area in the immediate timeframe. It said Southern Command troops remain deployed in the sector in line with the agreement and will continue acting decisively to remove any threat.
The military said the strike comes days after it killed three other senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives. It added that the group has continued operating in violation of the ceasefire agreement, as part of efforts by Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which took part in the October 7 massacre, to rebuild and strengthen its military capabilities.
