IDF Arrests Around 30 Suspects in Extensive West Bank Border Village Operation

The Israel Defense Forces, under the command of the Ephraim Brigade, conducted a large-scale operation on Sunday in West Bank border villages, resulting in the arrest of approximately 30 suspects. These individuals are accused of involvement in smuggling illegal residents and aiding infiltration into Israeli territory. The operation included sweeping dozens of locations in villages such as Tulkarm, Qalqilya, Azun Atma, Shuweika, and others in the sector.

The IDF stated that the operation targeted suspects believed to be part of infrastructure networks facilitating infiltrations. Over the past year, the Ephraim Brigade has shifted its approach to border security, emphasizing proactive and continuous operations rather than reactive responses to infiltration attempts. To support this, the brigade established an intelligence unit called the "Taf Tefer" cell, which consolidates information and research on infiltrations to maintain an updated situational picture.

The military revealed that many infiltrations are carried out systematically by organized cells and smugglers operating along the border. Brigadier General P., commander of the Ephraim Brigade, emphasized that "defense in the border area begins with initiative and aggressiveness," noting that continuous presence and operations against these infrastructures generate intelligence and help thwart threats.

In addition to this operation, the IDF is strengthening the border line through several measures, including the formation of the Panther Battalion, a specialized regional unit focused on providing targeted and sustained responses to security challenges in the area. The army is also enhancing security and defense components along the border and intensifying intelligence and operational efforts against smuggling and infiltration networks. The recent operation follows ongoing efforts such as Operation Iron Wall in Tulkarm, aiming to disrupt infiltration support systems, reduce illegal residency, and bolster the security of border residents and Israel’s rear areas.
