IDF Arrests Around 30 Suspects in Wide Operation Against Illegal Immigration Networks in West Bank Area

The IDF's Ephraim Brigade conducted a large-scale operation last week targeting illegal immigration infrastructure in the West Bank's seam zone. Operating simultaneously at multiple locations including the villages of Tulkarm, Qalqilya, Azun Atma, and Shweika, the forces arrested approximately 30 suspects involved in smuggling illegal residents and aiding infiltrations into Israel.

The operation focused on dismantling networks facilitating illegal crossings and was part of an ongoing effort by the Ephraim Brigade to reduce illegal presence and enhance security for local residents and Israel's rear areas. Ephraim Brigade Commander Colonel P. emphasized that "defense in the seam zone begins with initiative and offensive actions," highlighting continuous presence deep in villages and targeted operations against infiltration infrastructure as key to gathering quality intelligence and thwarting terror infrastructures.

The seam zone is a critical security area for Israel's rear defense, with continuous IDF activity combining operational, intelligence, and technological means alongside cooperation with other security agencies. Over the past year, the Ephraim Brigade has implemented a conceptual and operational shift, establishing an intelligence cell dedicated to infiltration data and analysis. This revealed that many infiltration attempts are carried out by systematic, recurring smuggling cells along the seam line.

In addition to the arrests, the IDF has taken further steps to strengthen the seam zone, including forming the Panther Battalion, a specialized unit focused on this area, increasing security components along the seam line, and intensifying intelligence and operational efforts against infiltration and smuggling infrastructures. The recent "Iron Wall" operation in Tulkarm, a key seam city, successfully neutralized terror cells posing threats to nearby communities.
