Almog Cohen Explores Joining Feiglin and Ben Ari's List as Alternative to Likud

Deputy Minister Almog Cohen, who had previously hinted at expecting a reserved spot on the Likud party list, is now exploring alternative political options ahead of the 2026 elections. Cohen is currently in talks to join the party list led by Moshe Feiglin and Michael Ben Ari, aiming for a high placement. Last week, Cohen met with Feiglin at a cafe in Kfar Saba, accompanied by senior members of Feiglin's party and Cohen's chief of staff, to discuss the potential alliance. However, no agreement has been reached yet, and negotiations are ongoing.

During the meeting, left-wing activists recognized Cohen and protested loudly against him and the government, causing a disturbance that required intervention by cafe staff and patrons. The revelation of Cohen's talks with Feiglin and Ben Ari is surprising, as Cohen had appeared to be focusing on securing a spot within Likud, either through a Netanyahu-appointed reservation or via the party primaries. Nonetheless, these discussions with other right-wing parties do not necessarily mean Cohen has abandoned his chances within Likud.

Cohen's office stated that he enjoys significant electoral value and is receiving many approaches from various right-wing factions, all aiming to prevent the formation of a government involving the "Brothers in Arms" coalition with Muslim Brotherhood affiliates. The Zehut party, led by Feiglin, confirmed they are open to cooperation with any national camp forces to benefit Israel. Michael Ben Ari declined to comment on the negotiations. The talks reflect ongoing maneuvering within the right-wing camp ahead of the upcoming elections.
