Shin Bet Chief David Zini Meets Former PM Naftali Bennett to Discuss Security and Cooperation

David Zini, head of the Shin Bet security service, recently held an extended meeting with former Prime Minister and 'Yahad' party leader Naftali Bennett, according to Yaron Avraham of Channel 12 News. The meeting was initiated by Zini himself and took place against the backdrop of Bennett's recent media remarks warning that if government appointees "do not work for Israel and bring politics into the service, they will be replaced." This followed a report by Moria Asraf on Channel 13 about Zini's earlier meeting with Knesset member Gadi Eizenkot.

Zini sought to meet Bennett, a candidate for prime minister, to emphasize that the Shin Bet operates in a nonpartisan, state-oriented manner and will fully cooperate with whichever political leadership is elected. The discussion also covered security concerns amid a rise in threats against public officials. Over the past year, several terror cell attempts targeting Bennett have been uncovered, both digitally and physically.
