Former PM Bennett Reveals Shin Bet Chief Requested Security Advice in Private Meeting

Former Israeli Prime Minister and Yachdav party leader Naftali Bennett disclosed details of a private meeting with Shin Bet chief David Zini. Bennett said Zini summoned him to seek advice on several security matters, though he did not specify the topics discussed. The meeting was intended to remain confidential, and Bennett emphasized his willingness to assist whenever called upon for national security.

When asked if Zini would remain in his position should Bennett return to power, Bennett expressed confidence in Zini's professional and nonpartisan approach. He stated that officials who continue to act professionally will be retained, while those who politicize their roles will be replaced. Bennett plans to review the performance of security chiefs after forming a new government, recalling that during his previous tenure he similarly evaluated and retained heads of security agencies based on their commitment to the state.

Bennett also addressed Qatar, declaring that if he forms the next government, he will label Qatar a "hostile state" due to its funding of Hamas and global influence operations. He criticized the current government for not taking similar measures. Additionally, Bennett spoke about foreign interference on social media, Israel-US relations, and the possibility of collaborating post-election with figures like Gadi Eizenkot and Avigdor Lieberman, noting their ability to cooperate to establish a new government.
